The installation process itself takes only a few minutes. However, to ensure a smooth
installation, please take note of the following points before you start (these points are
also summarized on the first screen of installation):
|
|
1. Close other running applications & utilities (including antivirus)
Explanation: Most software would ask you to close other applications and
utilities before an installation. There is a definite reason behind it. The Windows centrally
manages application installation configuration (as well as uninstall). Among other things,
Windows manages the reference counting and version checking of components which are to be shared
by different applications. If the version of a component is older than the existing one in your
machine, your confirmation will be sought. If you don't close the running applications and
utilities, then Windows may not perform its management job effectively. The running
applications/utilities include those "residing" in your system tray if any.
2. If you are using Win 2000 "SP1", update to a later SP of Microsoft
first
Explanation: There is a bug in Win 2000 "SP1" which needs to be
addressed by a later patch.
3. Ensure no "setup.exe" of other program in the same folder of installation file
Explanation: To avoid any mix-up during the installation process. For
example, if you install from the desktop, check that there is no "setup.exe" belonging to
another program in the desktop.
